Technician at Custom Computer Specialists | LAYIQ

Deploy, install, configure, test, and support desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, peripherals, and other end-user technology.
Perform onsite desktop and technology deployments across client locations throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Coordinate with delivery vendors and onsite personnel to receive equipment and technology deliveries at assigned locations.
Verify delivered equipment against project documentation, inventory records, packing lists, and deployment requirements.
Inspect equipment upon delivery and promptly report missing, incorrect, or damaged equipment.
Stage, prepare, configure, and test equipment prior to deployment.
Install and configure Windows-based desktops and laptops in accordance with established technical and client standards.
Connect and configure monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, printers, and other peripherals.
Connect deployed devices to wired and wireless networks and verify proper network connectivity.
Perform basic configuration and validation of user accounts, applications, printers, network connectivity, and other required services.
Troubleshoot desktop hardware, operating system, application, peripheral, printing, and connectivity issues.
Diagnose technical issues and determine appropriate resolution or escalation when problems require additional technical resources.
Verify that all installed equipment is fully operational and meets established deployment requirements before completing the assignment.
Provide post-deployment support to address installation, configuration, and end-user issues following technology deployments.
Assist end users with basic operation of newly installed equipment and applications when required.
Provide professional and courteous customer service while working directly with end users, client personnel, and project stakeholders.
Maintain clear communication with project managers and technical teams regarding deployment status, technical issues, equipment discrepancies, and outstanding work.
Perform asset tagging and accurately record serial numbers, asset information, device assignments, and other required inventory information.
Maintain accurate deployment records, equipment inventories, installation documentation, and project status updates.
Coordinate the removal, collection, staging, and return of replaced or retired equipment when required.
Maintain organized equipment staging and deployment areas throughout project activities.
Safeguard company and client equipment while it is being received, staged, transported, installed, or otherwise under the employee’s control.
Follow established equipment handling, data security, asset management, documentation, and deployment procedures.
Work collaboratively with project managers, Systems Engineers, Associate Systems Engineers, other technicians, delivery vendors, and client personnel.
Perform other job-related duties and support additional technology deployment initiatives as assigned.

Minimum of 1–2 years of experience supporting desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, technology deployments, or related IT environments.
Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows-based desktops and laptops.
Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, printers, monitors, docking stations, and common peripherals.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP, wired and wireless networking, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
Ability to diagnose and resolve common desktop hardware, software, peripheral, printing, and connectivity issues.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with end users and client personnel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to complete multiple deployment assignments within established schedules.
Strong attention to detail when handling equipment, documenting assets, and completing deployment records.
Ability to follow technical procedures, deployment instructions, and project documentation accurately.
Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project and technical teams.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Ability to lift 10 pounds or more, carry, move, and install desktop computers, monitors, printers, and related technology equipment.
Preferred
Associate’s degree or technical training in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience performing large-scale desktop or laptop deployment and technology refresh projects.
Experience with Microsoft 365 and Windows enterprise environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, or similar endpoint management technologies.
Experience with device imaging, provisioning, and deployment processes.
Experience with IT asset management, inventory systems, and asset tagging.
Experience supporting technology within educational, government, or other large enterprise environments.
CompTIA A+, Network +, Microsoft, or similar entry-level technical certification.
The position is based in Hauppauge, LI and will require travel to the five boroughs of New York City and outside of New York City.
