From Kettle & Fire's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Kettle & Fire is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Commercial Finance to be the finance partner behind our commercial growth. This role demands an exceptional business partner - someone Sales, Marketing, and Innovation bring in while decisions are being made rather than after, and who can operate with minimal day-to-day oversight while building the pricing and trade discipline a fast-growing business needs.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a fast-growing, disruptive company committed to providing nutrient-dense food, supporting ecosystem-benefiting initiatives, and developing innovative products.
The Director of Commercial Finance will contribute to Kettle & Fire's goal to become the leading broth brand by owning the commercial P&L narrative and building the margin visibility, pricing architecture, and trade spend discipline that allow us to grow profitably.
Additionally, the Director will work collaboratively across the organization to align commercial strategy with sales, marketing, innovation, and supply chain teams, ensuring decisions are grounded in real economics and maximizing the return on every dollar of trade investment. This is a full-time role, reporting to the VP of Finance, with one direct report. This position can be hybrid out of Austin, TX or remote anywhere in the continental United States.
At Kettle & Fire, we are driven by a mission to create products that heal rather than harm, supporting both our consumers' health and a healthy food system. Our culture is built on a foundation of core values that guide our work and define our team's identity. We push the boundaries of what's possible, embracing challenges with a growth mindset. We value radical candor and transparency, prioritize our customers relentlessly, and own our responsibilities unequivocally.
We focus intently on mission-critical tasks and execute with high-tempo precision. Our team's success is predicated on each member's commitment to collective goals, demanding not only individual excellence but a harmonious effort to excel as one cohesive unit. If you thrive in an environment that values high performance and flexible, results-oriented outcomes, you might just be the A-player we're looking for.
Experience as the go-to finance partner for Sales and Marketing.
8+ years of progressive experience in commercial finance, FP&A, revenue management, or sales/trade finance, ideally in CPG or food & beverage.
Ownership of a commercial or top-line forecast: AOP, rolling forecast, or customer-level volume and net revenue planning.
Direct experience with trade spend, pricing/revenue growth management, and customer or channel profitability.
A track record of building pricing architecture, promo ROI frameworks, or customer profitability models.
Comfort presenting financial trade-offs directly to senior leadership.
Experience acting as the finance partner to Innovation.
Managing or developing a direct report.
Breadth across multiple retail channels - grocery, mass, club, natural, e-commerce, DTC.
Familiarity with NetSuite, Confido, or related systems.
Using AI to expand analytical output, like automating recurring reporting and accelerating model builds.
Time in a startup or fast-growing environment.
