Senior Practitioner – Front Door Service

Our client based in Bristol is looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Front Door Service within Adult Social Care. This is a key leadership role focused on supporting decision-making, screening referrals, and ensuring high-quality safeguarding responses at the initial point of contact.

The successful candidate will act as a senior professional within the team, supporting the Team Manager, providing expert guidance to colleagues, and deputising where required. The role requires a confident practitioner with advanced knowledge of legislation, strong leadership capability, and experience managing complex safeguarding and statutory work.

What will your responsibilities be?

Supporting the Front Door function, including screening new referrals and contributing to case allocation and workload management.

Providing professional consultation, direction, and support to practitioners, particularly in complex or high-risk situations.

Leading on safeguarding decision-making, including coordinating and chairing strategy discussions where required.

Undertaking statutory duties in line with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks.

Managing a complex caseload, supporting adults and families where needs are challenging and require advanced practice skills.

Supporting the development of team practice, including mentoring, supervision, and professional guidance to staff and students.

Assisting the Team Manager in maintaining a positive team culture, performance standards, and evidence-based practice.

Contributing to multi-agency working, ensuring integrated service delivery across partner organisations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• To be successful in this role you must have; Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW (or Occupational Therapy qualification with HCPC registration).
• Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England (or HCPC where applicable).
• Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care
• Strong background in safeguarding and complex casework
• Experience providing supervision, mentoring, or leadership within a team setting
• Legislation Knowledge: Expert understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding frameworks
• Knowledge of Mental Health legislation is desirable
• Skills: Advanced assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to lead practice, manage risk, and support others in complex scenarios
• Strong communication and ability to chair meetings effectively
• Desirable: Practice Educator, AMHP, or Best Interests Assessor qualification
