POSITION SUMMARY

Terrabis is seeking a Data Architect to assist in designing, implementing, and managing an innovative data infrastructure. This role will enable data-driven decision-making and innovation, aligning with the company's growth in the regulated cannabis industry. You will collaborate with the analytics team, along with other business stakeholders, to deliver tools and insights to propel the business forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data Architecture and Infrastructure
• Help design and maintain a scalable data architecture that integrates various systems, including POS, e-commerce, CRM, and marketing platforms.
• Assist in managing our centralized data warehouse in Snowflake
• Maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to automate data collection, processing, and transformation.
• Ensure high data quality, integrity, and availability through regular validation and monitoring processes.
• Business Partnership and Strategy
• Partner with department leads to align data projects with strategic goals.
• Be a thought partner to cross-functional leaders, helping them leverage data to solve complex business problems.
• Provide analytical insights for pricing, inventory, customer segmentation, and marketing optimization.
• Governance and Compliance
• Develop and enforce data governance policies to ensure compliance with cannabis industry regulations.
• Maintain documentation for all data architecture and analytics processes to ensure clarity and consistency.
• Tooling and Innovation
• Spearhead new tool integrations and maximize their use.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• 2-3+ years of relevant experience in designing and building data architecture, leading analytics, or data science teams, driving business, customer, or marketing analytics.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL (including window functions, CTEs, and query optimization) to clean and transform raw data into trusted, scalable datasets
• Strong dimensional modeling skills, including designing fact and dimension tables, declaring grain, and managing surrogate keys. Comfortable working with JSON and semi-structured data
• Hands-on experience with dbt or similar SQL-first data transformation frameworks, including testing and documentation
• Experience with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or BigQuery to build and maintain analytics-ready data models (Snowflake experience is a strong plus)
• Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Looker, or Tableau to build reliable semantic layers and executive dashboards
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and workflow automation
• Experience with Git and CI/CD for version control, testing, and deploying data pipelines
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Rundeck to schedule and monitor production pipelines
• A collaborative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in a regulated industry, and Ecommerce (B2C) preferred.

Illinois Pay Range

$100,000 — $115,000 USD
