As a Physician on our Virtual Care team, you'll spend the vast majority of your time seeing patients. The difference is how, visits will be fully asynchronous messaging-based, AI-paired via our in-house custom built EHR. You'll be the clinician on the other end of the message: the one a patient turns to at 7pm on a Tuesday for their rash, their refill, or for help managing a chronic illness.

Your day is patient care and every conversation you have with a Counsel patient sharpens how we care for everyone who comes next. That's what it means to multiply the world's healthcare capacity.

What you'll do

• Practice exceptional, AI-paired medicine.
• See patients across acute, primary, and longevity care over messages: diagnose, treat, triage, follow up
• Practice with Counsel's AI like a sharp colleague who's already read the chart: it preps the history, sharpens the differential, drafts the message. The part only you can do, your judgment, the human on the other end of the message, gets your full attention
• Hold a high bar on every encounter: the clinical reasoning, the safety, the way it lands with the patient
• Stay generalist. That means solving in-scope clinical issues yourself and navigating patients to the next-best place in the healthcare system when necessary
• Raise the bar on the clinical team.
• Work with the CMO and VP of Care Delivery on the guidelines, peer review, and clinical systems that keep care safe as the team grows
• Mentor newer clinicians; share what's working; raise the bar without making it about you
• Shape the tools you practice in.
• Counsel is built on a simple principle: clinicians first, technologists second. The people designing what you practice in want your pushback, your instincts, your taste
• A workflow that frustrates you this week can be fixed in the next few. A tool you've been waiting years for can land in your hands in a matter of months

What you bring

• Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine and be a member of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) and hold an IMLC Letter of Qualification
• 3+ years of post-residency clinical experience ( urgent care, ER, primary care, or a strong generalist mix
• )
• Genuine interest in acute, primary, and longevity care
• Comfort working in a fully virtual, asynchronous, messaging-based modality
• 32+ hrs/week with flexibility on how you build your schedule. Shift blocks (EST): 7:30a–1p, 1p–6p, 6p–9p. Limited evening and weekend coverage required (2 evenings + 2 weekend days/month). 0.8, 0.9, and 1.0 FTE available; W2
• Strong written communication, most of your patient care happens in writing
• Bonus points for Active licenses in CA, FL, and/or NY!
• Prior telehealth, virtual-first, or DTC healthcare experience
• Experience incorporating the longevity into your clinical practice
• A real point of view on AI in clinical practice - you've used the tools and formed opinions
• Fast-paced acute environment (ER, urgent care) background where triage instincts are second nature

• Bullish on AI in medicine, and clear-eyed about its limits. You see what's promising and what's not, and you say so
• A generalist by temperament. You'd rather solve a hard, weird problem than do the same thing perfectly a thousand times

• Optimistic about hard problems. Healthcare is messy and AI is moving fast, you're energized by that, not braced for it
