Who you’ll be working with We build the solutions dreamed up by the product and design teams. Our goal is to deliver working software every two weeks. We are a large team spanning three global offices, and we collaborate to integrate front- and back-end components and interfaces to deliver a user-centered experience across web and mobile platforms.
What you’ll be doing
Quality Engineering
Partner with engineering and product teams to understand business workflows, system architecture, integrations, and technical dependencies.
Independently identify quality risks and define an appropriate testing and automation strategy.
Architect Scalable Automation Solutions. Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve reliable automation frameworks and reusable test utilities for modern web applications, APIs, backend services, and integrated systems using technologies such as Playwright, TypeScript, and Python.
Build the appropriate balance of API, integration, component, contract, data, and end-to-end automation, minimizing unnecessary dependence on UI-level testing.
Participate in discovery, requirements refinement, technical design, and architecture discussions to identify edge cases, dependencies, testability concerns, and potential failure scenarios before development is complete.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and establish effective quality gates.
Optimize execution through parallelization, tagging, test selection, environment management, reporting, and failure diagnostics.
Design robust API and integration validation for RESTful services and backend workflows, including request/response validation, authentication, error handling, service dependencies, and asynchronous processes.
Validate data across databases, APIs, files, and integrated systems using SQL and programmatic approaches. Verify data integrity, transformations, reconciliation, and complex backend processing when required.
Investigate failures using application logs, browser developer tools, network traces, API clients, database queries, and application telemetry. Distinguish between product defects, automation failures, test-data issues, infrastructure problems, and environment instability.
Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate test design, coding, debugging, documentation, and analysis while critically reviewing generated solutions and maintaining engineering standards.
What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)
Must have skills:
Experience:
5+ years of experience as an SDET, Software Engineer, Quality Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, or similar engineering role.
Programming:
Strong software engineering skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python, with experience building maintainable solutions and working with existing codebases.
Test Automation:
Strong experience building and maintaining automation frameworks for web applications and APIs, with hands-on Playwright experience strongly preferred.
API & Backend Testing:
Strong experience testing REST APIs, backend workflows, service integrations, and databases, with good SQL skills.
Testing Fundamentals:
Strong understanding of unit, component, API, integration, contract, data, and end-to-end testing, with the ability to select the right approach based on risk.
CI/CD:
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and implementing automated quality gates.
Debugging & Problem Solving:
Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
Version Control:
Strong knowledge of Git, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative software development practices.
Should have skills:
Quality Ownership:
Ability to independently own quality for a product area, proactively identify risks, drive issues to resolution, and influence engineering decisions.
Test Architecture:
Experience designing scalable test architectures and selecting the appropriate balance of API, integration, component, contract, data, and end-to-end testing.
Complex Systems:
Experience testing distributed systems, microservices, complex integrations, and backend workflows.
Database & Data Validation:
Experience validating data across databases, APIs, files, and integrated systems using SQL and programmatic approaches.
Advanced Automation:
Experience developing complex, reusable, and scalable automation frameworks and test utilities.
Nice-to-have skills:
AI-Assisted Engineering:
Experience using AI-assisted development and testing tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude.
MCP & Agentic Workflows:
Hands-on experience with MCP-based tooling, agentic workflows, or AI-driven engineering practices.
Performance Testing:
Experience with performance, load, scalability, or resilience testing.
Observability:
Experience with application logs, distributed tracing, monitoring, telemetry, and observability platforms.
Cloud:
Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud-native applications.
