THE ROLE:
Join AMD’s AI Platform Engineering organization and help define the system architecture that will power the next generation of AI and data center infrastructure. As a System Architect
, you will work on highly visible, leading-edge programs that are central to AMD’s evolving AI platform strategy.
You will partner with senior architects and engineering teams across silicon, hardware, firmware, software, networking, thermal, power, validation, and platform disciplines to solve complex system-level challenges. You will explore emerging technologies, evaluate architecture concepts and tradeoffs, and help turn evolving customer and platform requirements into scalable solutions for AI and hyperscale data center environments.
This is a senior individual-contributor technical role with the opportunity to influence architecture and platform direction through hands-on technical leadership. You will work in a fast-moving environment where technologies, customer requirements, and program priorities continue to evolve. The role offers significant opportunity to learn, innovate, and influence future AMD platforms while collaborating with experts across the organization.
This emphasis on a broad platform architecture scope, hyperscale data center product development, cross-functional collaboration, and adaptability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive system and platform architecture initiatives for next-generation AI infrastructure, accelerated computing, and large-scale data center platforms.
- Own and influence system-level architecture decisions and technical tradeoffs across compute, accelerators, memory, high-speed interconnects, networking, storage, power, cooling, firmware, validation, and platform software.
- Perform architecture concept studies, feasibility assessments, technology evaluations, and system-level tradeoff analyses to guide future platform development.
- Translate AI, data center, and hyperscale customer requirements into scalable system and platform architecture recommendations.
- Collaborate across silicon, board, hardware, mechanical, thermal, power, firmware, networking, validation, and software engineering teams to define and deliver cohesive platform solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry standards, interface technologies, and computing architectures to identify opportunities for future platform innovation.
- During the first several months, establish a strong understanding of AMD’s AI platform roadmap, architecture requirements, development environment, and key cross-functional partnerships.
- As familiarity with the organization and platforms grows, take ownership of defined architecture initiatives and contribute directly to program and platform development.
- Over time, become a trusted technical leader who influences architecture decisions across major development programs and contributes to longer-term platform and technology roadmaps.
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Hands-on system or platform architecture experience within a semiconductor, silicon, AI accelerator, advanced computing, server, or related technology organization.
- Architecture experience supporting AI servers, accelerated-compute platforms, high-performance computing, hyperscale infrastructure, or large-scale data center environments.
- Experience developing data center products or platforms for hyperscale customers and translating customer requirements into system or platform architecture decisions.
- Demonstrated ownership of system-level architecture decisions, technical tradeoffs, feasibility studies, platform definitions, or technology selections.
- Strong understanding of silicon-platform integration across CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, memory, high-speed interconnects, networking, storage, firmware, validation, and system software.
- Knowledge of high-speed electrical interfaces, connectivity standards, memory architectures, and fabric or interconnect technologies.
- Experience evaluating power delivery, thermal architecture, reliability, serviceability, scalability, and other system-level considerations for high-performance platforms.
- Experience influencing technical direction and architecture decisions across large, cross-functional engineering organizations.
- Experience contributing to platform roadmaps, reference architectures, next-generation system definitions, or advanced technology evaluations.
- Ability to communicate complex architecture concepts and technical tradeoffs clearly to both deeply technical and broader cross-functional audiences.
- Experience providing technical leadership through influence and architecture expertise in a senior individual-contributor capacity.
- ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
