Job Description
CDM Smith is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering and architecture firm delivering complex, large-scale projects across water and wastewater, transit, industrial facilities, and commercial spaces. Our work also spans office design, facility planning, and condition assessments.
As an Architect at CDM Smith, you’ll join a collaborative team of technical experts tackling impactful projects across Environmental, Industrial, Commercial, Transportation, and Water sectors, offering the chance to shape innovative solutions and make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.
The Architect will have the following responsibilities:
Develop design criteria directly with clients. Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
Coordinate building design development with architectural and engineering staff.
Lead and guide junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.
Plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
Lead determination of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing and specifications.
Lead compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
Lead development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external. Monitor projects through close out.
Support sales, meet with clients and serve as a Project Manager for Architectural driven projects.
Skills & Abilities
Solid technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
Strong knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), preferably AutoCAD and Revit.
Familiarity with modeling and rendering software programs.
Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Must possess RA certification.
7 years of related experience.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
