PHARMACY MEDICATION HISTORY TECHNICIAN (EVENING SHIFT)

Overview

The Pharmacy Medication History Technician demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of Covenant Healthcare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Provides technical assistance in the documentation and clarification of medication and allergy histories for patients admitted to the hospital.

This information will be used by the physicians and other health care providers to determine treatment plans and will provide the basis for medication reconciliation of orders during and following the hospital stay. The Pharmacy Medication History Technician must communicate effectively and courteously with patients and health care providers, using interview skills, listening techniques, medication knowledge, and available resources to develop a complete and accurate electronic list of medications and allergies for each patient.

Pharmacy Medication History Technicians will also be responsible for performing other specialty functions, including but not limited to, workload evaluation, position justification, continuing quality improvement, or other assignments in support of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy operations.
