Medication Management & Clinical Services
Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, dosing, route, frequency, and therapeutic effectiveness.
Monitor patient medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and therapeutic duplications.
Recommend, resolve, and prevent medication-related problems through direct collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers.
Provide medication therapy assessments and recommendations to support the best possible patient care.
Deliver drug information and education to patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Respond to complex medication-related inquiries and clinical consultations.
Pharmacy Operations
Oversee the preparation, labeling, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
Ensure pharmacy services are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
Verify the accuracy of compounded and prepared medications completed by pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Follow all departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards related to medication preparation and distribution.
Assist with operational leadership and supervise pharmacy technicians and support personnel as needed.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, visitor, and coworker information.
Comply with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, patient safety standards, medication-use safety practices, infection prevention, and security protocols.
Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Utilize internal and external resources to support continuous pharmacy operational improvement.
Training & Professional Development
Participate in the orientation and training of pharmacists, technicians, residents, students, and support staff.
Pursue ongoing professional development through educational programs and professional activities.
