We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to support young people living in a residential care setting. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes safety, stability, emotional wellbeing, and positive outcomes. You will play a key role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment, helping young people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
What will your responsibilities be?
Manage the residential centre to provide a safe, caring and stable environment for children and young people, in line with policies, national standards and relevant legislation.
Ensure Care and Placement Plans are developed, implemented, regularly reviewed and accurately recorded for each young person.
Promote and safeguard the rights, welfare, development and individual needs of young people, working closely with families, staff and external agencies.
Manage, supervise and support staff, including arranging rosters, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix, maintaining staff records and identifying training and development needs.
Provide leadership and decision-making while on shift, taking overall responsibility for the centre in the Centre Manager’s absence and acting up as Centre Manager when required.
Manage the centre’s budget and resources, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed limits, records are maintained and resources are used effectively.
Oversee the maintenance, upkeep and safety of the centre, including vehicles and equipment, fire safety, health and safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
Prepare reports, statistics and professional documentation, and participate in case management, strategy and other meetings relating to the care and development of young people.
Ensure effective day-to-day administration, including incident reporting, financial accountability, team meetings, supervision and communication with senior management.
Maintain professional standards through ongoing training, supervision and knowledge of legislation and childcare practice, while participating in the centre’s on-call rota and supporting household activities as required.
We are unable to support or accept applications from candidates who are residents within the Red or Amber list of the Code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England, based on the World Health Organisation (WHO) Workforce Support and Safeguard List.
