Education : Broad knowledge in a financial or agricultural field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Finance, Agricultural Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience : 1 plus years experience required in a grain merchandising, commodity procurement, grain origination, trading, or related experience or 5 years in a similar type of role in purchasing or trading preferred.
Candidates with equivalent experience in agricultural purchasing, grain operations, commodity risk management, or related commercial roles will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of grain merchandising fundamentals, basis markets, hedge management, and commodity pricing mechanisms.
Knowledge of grain origination practices and producer contracting strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to build productive relationships with producers and customers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with grain merchandising, risk management, or contract systems is preferred.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across procurement, transportation, accounting, and operations teams.
Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to speak publicly to farmers in presentations.
Special Skills : Knowledge of merchandising practices and flexible contract pricing methods; ability to address groups and give presentations; understand the needs of the farmers and have the ability to work with a wide variety of teams and customers.
Supervisory : NA
Travel : Approximately 5-10% travel, including customer visits, producer meetings, and industry events.
