Assistant Director of Student Life and Student Organizations at Ivy Tech Community College | LAYIQ

The following is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Student Organization Management
Oversee the process for recognizing and registering new student organizations.
Develop and maintain an online resource center for student organization leadership and advisors including templates, guides, and best practices.
Develop and implement programs and initiatives that support the growth and development of student organizations.
Coordinate major events and activities, including involvement fairs, involvement weeks, orientation for new organizations, training retreats, and annual recognition ceremonies.
Serve as lead and liaison for SCORE in partnership with TAB Recreation.
Serve as a resource and advisor to engaged students on the campus.
Assist Student Organizations in creating and assessing measurable learning outcomes and developing innovative methods to measure those outcomes.
Assist student organizations in navigating university policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Offer one-on-one and group advising sessions to address the specific needs and challenges of student organizations.
Manage the allocation of resources, including funding and facilities, to support student organization activities.
Manage a master student organization programming calendar.
Acts as a resource to student leaders through all aspects of event planning for conferences, panels, networking, and career presentations, including contract processing and on-site event coordination.
Collaboration and Outreach
Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty advisors, campus departments, and community partners to enhance support for student organizations.
Promote student organization activities through various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and campus events.
Represent the Office of Student Life at meetings, committees, and external events as needed.

Extensive training and/or formal education focused on developing the previously outlined competencies and skills (e.g., a Master’s in Student Affairs or Higher Education).
Utilization of the previously outlined competencies and skills in a community college. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Proven ability to effectively engage with others, assess situations, and execute on defined deliverables.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of risk management practices related to student activities and events.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for programs and events.
Additional Experience: Experience in event planning, campus programming, or related areas, preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience advising or mentoring students, with a focus on event planning or leadership development.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable mode of transportation.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Comfortable working on campus in various indoor and outdoor environments during events.
