Transportation Engineer Intern - May 2027

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a highly motivated and diverse

Transportation Engineer Intern (STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) to join us in our Herndon, VA office for the 2027 internship period. This is a paid full-time position with anticipated duration from May through August 2027 (flexible) and has the potential to transition into a Full-Time Junior Engineer Role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders with partnerships with other engineering staff.

Responsibilities: Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.; Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation; Support the preparation of reports, plans, and specifications for clients; May work on field assignments as needed; Will be supported by leaders, mentors, and teammates; and

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old; Pursuing Bachelor or Associates Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field; Minimum GPA of 3.0; Has excellent verbal and written communication skills; Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills; Self-motivated, detail oriented person; Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point); and
