Hi there!

We’re looking for a sharp, practical, and technology-forward lawyer who thinks like a business operator and is eager to develop across a broad range of legal and business problems. This is a hands-on role anchored in procurement and mid-market commercial work, with opportunities to expand into new areas while rethinking how legal work gets done through AI, automation, and systems thinking.

The right person will bring a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, be eager to learn new areas, and thrive in a fast-paced, technology-forward, and intellectually challenging environment. This position provides a great opportunity to lead efforts to incorporate technology, like automation and AI, into legal operations and practice.

You will serve as the team’s day-to-day point person for improving our existing automation and AI workflows and helping build the next ones, working closely with the General Counsel and the rest of the legal team. You will be a member of our legal team and report to the General Counsel.

About You:

You have exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.

You are experienced at drafting and negotiating a range of inbound and outbound commercial contracts, including technology/cloud agreements, SaaS service agreements, contractor/consulting agreements, events-related agreements, and other business agreements.

You can research an unfamiliar regulation and apply strong business judgment to turn it into a practical recommendation.

You have a knack for analyzing and assessing laws, regulations, and policies across multiple jurisdictions to extract the most relevant provisions for the business. You are comfortable with assessing risk and proposing solutions that balance risk with business goals.

You love new challenges.

You have experience with, and an enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity for new legal issues. You are a creative thinker who is comfortable with change and ambiguity, and excited to learn areas of the law that may be new to you.

You think of yourself as a builder in legal practice.

Qualifications & Experience

• Juris Doctor degree
• Admitted to practice and in good standing with one or more state bars in the US
• 4-8 years of legal experience across commercial, operational, or general corporate matters
• Combined law firm and in-house experience at a SaaS/technology company preferred, but not required.
• Things You’ll Do: Lead responses to legal tickets from teams across Zapier, including from sales, procurement, and HR teams, and escalate to subject matter experts to resolve, as needed.
• Own legal support for procurement, NDAs, and vendor contracts, including intake through Zip and Ironclad. Partner with the procurement team and stakeholder teams across Zapier to draft, review, and negotiate inbound SaaS, service, and consultant/contractor agreements of all types.
• Own day-to-day legal support for mid-market sales deals, including order forms, DPAs, and MSA redlines. Collaborate with Zapier’s commercial counsel on providing effective and efficient legal support to close sales deals.
• Serve as the day-to-day point person for extending the legal team’s existing automations, including NDA and vendor contract review workflows, legal ticketing workflows, and Zip and Ironclad intake. Work closely with the General Counsel and the rest of the legal team to implement technology to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of our work.
• Support the legal team on other matters as needs arise, including partnering with our employment counsel on personnel-related questions and helping monitor legal developments affecting Zapier, in coordination with internal and external subject-matter experts.
• Advocate for finding and implementing the “right” solution, which is one that is compliant and meets business goals, while remaining committed to our customers, our people, and Zapier’s core values.
• Understand company-wide goals to develop systems, processes, and metrics that support Zapier’s growth.
