Pay Rate : $20/hour
Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager and Supply Chain team, the Purchasing & Supply Chain Intern will support a variety of strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives within Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, and Supply Chain Operations. This position provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while exposing the intern to procurement, supplier management, cost analysis, inventory management, reporting, and process improvement activities.
Your Challenge:
Assist with the development and organization of purchasing and supply chain training materials, onboarding resources, work instructions, and process documentation.
Support the creation of a fastener product knowledge and training program by compiling technical information, industry standards, product specifications, supplier data, and internal procedures.
Assist with Power BI and Excel reporting projects, including spend analysis, inventory management, supplier performance metrics, purchasing trends, and supply chain data analysis.
Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visual analytics tools used by Purchasing and Supply Chain leadership.
Research and analyze purchasing spend data to identify cost reduction opportunities, supplier consolidation opportunities, and negotiation initiatives.
Gather, organize, and analyze data to support purchasing, inventory, shipping, and supply chain improvement projects.
Assist with supplier benchmarking, market research, and sourcing activities for consumable products and indirect materials.
Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Assist with maintaining reports, metrics, dashboards, and project documentation.
Support supplier communications, quote requests, and follow-up activities as assigned.
Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, documentation, and operational excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Shipping, Receiving, and Accounting.
Perform other related duties, projects, and assignments as required
Your Expertise:
Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Familiarity with Power BI, business intelligence tools, or data visualization software preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Interest in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, manufacturing, operations, or business analytics.
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar systems is preferred but not required.
