Job Summary:
Provides pastoral care to patients, family members, and organizational staff experiencing challenge or crisis.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs spiritual assessments and develops spiritual plan of care.
Attends rounds on assigned units and makes informed contribution to the interdisciplinary team.
Responds to code blue and trauma alerts, exemplifying a calming, soothing presence.
Provides education and direction in the end-of-life decisions and ethical issues upon request.
Fosters a collaborative relationship with community clergy and faith group leaders.
Assesses and responds to the spiritual and emotional needs of those counseled, including crisis intervention and bereavement.
Provides support to hospital staff through individual counseling and structured group meetings.
Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
Documents visits and interventions appropriately according to the standards of the healthcare organization.
Develops and implements projects related to assigned units/specialty areas for performance improvement.
Skills and Attributes:
Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Works under minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education
Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education required upon hire AND
Master's degree or higher in Divinity required upon hire OR
Master's degree or higher in Theology required upon hire OR
Master's degree or higher in Religious Studies required upon hire OR
Master's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Chaplain - Board certified from an approved agency as determined by the organization required within 36 months of employment in this position.
