Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at University of Chicago | LAYIQ

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in nursing (or equivalent, if license received prior to July 1, 2001) from an accredited school/college of nursing.
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing appropriate as a Nurse Practitioner and certified in area of specialty.
Experience: Two years of clinical experience in area of specialty.
Experience in a university counseling center or with young adults treating mood, anxiety, and adjustment disorders, and providing couple’s counseling and crisis management.
Certifications : Current advanced practice nurse (APN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
Current registered nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois or eligibility to receive by start date.
Current Board Certification for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or eligibility to receive by start date.
Preferred Competencies
Ability to interview and obtain medical information.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications.
Willingness to enter into written collaborative agreement with a collaborating physician upon hire.
Comprehensive knowledge of laws and ethical principles related to the practice of psychiatry in a university setting.
Once licensed and as needed, willingness to apply for a controlled substance license and DEA number.
Willingness to be privileged and credentialed through UCM Medical Staff Office prior to start date.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical skill.
Demonstrated experience working with a wide array of presenting problems and an affinity for working in a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions
Privileged and credentialed through UCM Medical Staff Office prior to start date.
Written collaborative agreement with a collaborating physician upon hire.
Clinical care setting in ambulatory wellness center.
Work with collaborating M.D. and/or a team of physicians.
Direct patient contact or clinical care setting.
Office environment.
On-call responsibilities.
High stress environment.
Ability to sit for up to 2 hours at a time.
Ability to use computers extensively for up to 2 hours at a time.
Ability to use standard computer and office equipment.
