Under the general supervision of the Physical Medicine Supervisor and according to standards of treatment, performs objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral.
Perform initial assessment on each patient upon receiving referral. Document all information according to departmental policies and procedures.
Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
Participate in promoting education within the department.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Under the general supervision of the Physical Medicine Supervisor, you will provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services, including evaluations, treatment planning, patient and family education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This position serves neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Position Summary
The Speech Therapist performs objective assessments and develops individualized treatment plans for patients referred for speech-language pathology services. The ideal candidate is compassionate, clinically skilled, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care while promoting positive rehabilitation outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities
Patient Assessment & Treatment
Perform comprehensive speech-language evaluations upon receipt of referral.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
Administer appropriate therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities.
Reassess patient progress and update goals regularly.
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries according to departmental standards.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment goals, home programs, precautions, and rehabilitation strategies.
Recommend adaptive equipment and assist with discharge planning when appropriate.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations effectively and professionally.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and team meetings.
Professional Development & Education
Attend departmental, hospital, and mandatory educational meetings.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities.
Maintain continuing education requirements and professional competencies.
Assist with training and mentoring students and new team members as needed.
Age-Specific Competencies
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Provide age-appropriate care while considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, developmental, and safety factors.
Apply clinical judgment when evaluating and interpreting patient information across all age groups.
Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
Licensure
Current or provisional Speech-Language Pathologist license in the applicable state of practice required.
Certifications
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) required within one year of hire (extensions may be granted at the discretion of leadership and clinical fellowship supervisor).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
All required certifications must be current before independently caring for patients.
Experience
Preferred: One year of Speech-Language Pathology experience.
Experience working with patients of all ages preferred.
Additional Requirements
Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
