The MCS/ECMO Coordinator Senior role is able to function independently in providing MCS and ECMO support to all applicable patient populations. The individuals in this role are able to apply clinical judgement and best practice through experience, on-going training, and education. This role fosters collaboration with nursing and is a resource to the MCS/ECMO Coordinator role.
Individuals in this role take part in supporting the MCS/ECMO program overall by performing other tasks including education, training, data abstraction, or quality improvement work as directed by the Manager of the MCS/ECMO program.
This role is for team members dedicated to the MCS/ECMO program meeting the education, training, and skills outlined within this job description.
About this unit:
The MCS/ECMO department (Mechanical Circulatory Support) is a small department, comprised of approximately 30 RN & RT staff. Our staff comes with a variety of experience from the neonatal, pediatric and (adult) cardiothoracic intensive care units. Team members are responsible for maintaining heart and lung support devices on the most critically ill patients. We support pre- and post-transplant (both heart & lung) patients, as well as post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary illness (COVID, influenza, RSV) and congenital heart defect
