About the unit
6 South is a 32-bed surgical unit with a primary focus on post-operative care of the abdominal surgery patient. You will work very closely with the surgeons and surgical residents. The unit fosters good teamwork, a friendly atmosphere, good collaborative relationship with the multidisciplinary team members of case management, PT/OT, Dieticians and social work.
The unit fosters open communication, professional autonomy, a multicultural atmosphere, certified preceptors, well-structured atmosphere, and will enable you to have a large variety of patients to allow for great nursing experience and development of assessment skills. The unit has 8 telemetry beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring post-surgery.
