The OB/GYN Laborist Role A is an in-house position which ensures that safe, high quality, evidence-based care is provided to obstetric patients and that hospital resources are managed in a clinically appropriate way. In sites where residents and/or medical students are present this may include resident supervision and education. The OB/GYN Laborist Role A is the primary, first line provider who is expected to be immediately available and present during the entirety of their shift.
ASSIGNMENT: 24 Hour In-House Call Coverage Program
LOCATION: High volume labor and delivery units (>3,000 deliveries per year)

Essential Functions
Prevention of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality by ensuring that all inpatient obstetric care meets and/or exceeds current standards of care.
The prevention of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality should result from role A’s identification and remediation of any area of clinical concern via collaboration with the members of the obstetric care team which may include a. Medical students b. nursing staff c. resident ob/gyn and/or family medicine physicians d. maternal fetal medicine fellows e. advanced practice providers including certified nurse midwives, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners f.
