About the Unit
Our Cardiovascular Recovery Room is a small unit within Meijer Heart Center, specializing in the recovery of cardiac/cardiothoracic surgery patients, for the first 24 hours after their surgery. We are close nit team trained in critical care. The day shiftworks with the patients as they come out of surgery, and the night shift helps the patient transition from our unit to either the ICU or a Progressive Care Unit.
Scope of Work
Taking care of 9 patients per shift , Critical Care Bedside responsibilities, including ambulating patients, monitoring patients vitals, blood sugar, responding to call lights for other needs, hygiene/bed bathing, wound and catheter care, EKG's, Charting, transport to other units after recovery, sheath removals, and sometimes floated to other units to do safety sitter/1:1 shift.
Performs routine bedside nursing activities including: bathing and personal grooming of patients; ambulating, moving and turning patients; assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices; making patient beds and caring for personal property.
