We are seeking an experienced Signal Processing and Communications Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing algorithms with an emphasis on underwater communication and localization techniques. You will those implement algorithms in embedded systems for real-time operation. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of our technology, allowing us to provide state-of-the-art solutions to our sponsors!
As a Signal Processing / Communications Engineer you will…
Design communication waveforms, protocols and systems tailored to mission objectives.
Implement algorithms efficiently in real-time embedded systems.
Conduct simulations and modeling of communication channels to analyze performance and optimize system designs.
Develop signal processing algorithms for detection, classification, demodulation and localization.
Implement modulators, demodulators and system controllers on embedded hardware.
Perform laboratory and field testing of systems to evaluate their performance and validate design concepts.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate systems into larger platforms or vehicles.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in communications technology and participate in research efforts.
Document engineering processes, design specifications, and test results for internal and external use.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation.
Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
