A registered professional nurse who utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care and assumes the responsibility and accountability for prescribing, delegating and coordinating that care.

The Emergency Department (ED) at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is part of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS). Bridgeport Hospital is a private, not-for-profit acute care, community-teaching hospital located in Connecticut's most populous city. We work collaboratively to provide compassionate care and utilize evidence-based practice to improve outcomes. Our ED is a 45-bed unit that accommodates the care of 92,000 visits per year using an innovative vertical flow model.
