This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Anaheim, California. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This role offers hands-on experience supporting active project work.
In this role, you will support project documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to healthcare-focused MEP work, including hospital renovations, expansions, and research facilities, while supporting high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
Assist with mechanical system design tasks in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.
Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources for project use.
Support client communication, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
Coordinate design and schedule needs with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier teams.
Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
Work within the project’s monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
What You'll Bring
Required
Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Strong interest in design consulting
Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of California Pay Range: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
