Director, Editorial Programming

The Hill Events is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Director, Editorial Programming to lead the content strategy and editorial execution for our premier events and Summits calendar.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Events, this senior leadership role sits at the intersection of media, live programming, and editorial excellence. You will oversee the development of compelling, bipartisan content plans, drive high-level speaker acquisitions, cultivate critical relationships within our newsroom and external networks, and mentor upcoming moderator and programming talent.

The ideal candidate is an innovative producer and elite guest booker with a deep rolodex, exceptional editorial judgment, and a proven track record of managing the main stage at live events. Reports to: Vice President of Events

Key Responsibilities

• Build comprehensive content plans that are bipartisan, researched and provide top-tier speaker and moderator suggestions, actively collaborating with the newsroom as needed
• Cultivate an extensive roster of internal and external moderators, and prepare, coach and train them as necessary for the event
• Design engaging program timing and agendas, continuously introducing fresh, innovative formats where appropriate
• Act as the primary senior guest booker focusing on major, high-impact acquisitions for The Hill’s prestigious Summits calendar. Maintain robust, active relationships with communications and scheduling teams to expand a deep rolodex and connect editorial leadership with key figures
• Lead the editorial operations of the Manager, Editorial Programming to guarantee a seamless experience for all
• Foster strong partnerships with editorial leadership and senior staff bookers to identify collaborative opportunities within the newsroom
• Communicate with the Video & Social Team to make sure the best of what’s discussed at our events is delivered to various audiences
• Partner with event marketing to maintain up-to-date event websites, ensuring accurate and timely publishing of speakers, moderators, agendas, and themes
• Write compelling audience invitation copy highlighting key topics and speakers
• Oversee live main stage program flow, including segment timing, VIP speaker handling, and direction of the Production Manager

Qualifications & Skills

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in live events, media production, journalism, high-level guest booking, or policy/advocacy event programming
• Proven ability to maintain and leverage an established rolodex of high-profile political, corporate, and media figures
• Deep understanding of national politics, policy, and media landscapes, with a strict commitment to balanced, bipartisan reporting
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills, with prior experience mentoring junior editorial staff
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-visibility media environment while balancing multiple complex event timelines

Compensation Range: $135,000 - $165,000 annually based upon experience
