Large Municipal Multi-Structure Classification & Compensation Lead (Sworn + Civi

AlphaGov is seeking a Large Municipal Multi-Structure Classification & Compensation Lead for project-based engagements with mid-to-large cities and counties that maintain multiple pay plans (general, police, fire, paramedic, and related public-safety structures).

You will lead or co-lead full classification and compensation studies covering hundreds of titles across civilian and sworn structures — including market surveys, internal equity/compression analysis, and implementation cost modeling for public employers typically in the mid-fee band ($150k–$250k+ studies).

What you'll do:

• Lead multi-structure municipal class/comp studies (civilian + sworn/public-safety pay plans)
• Design peer sets and market surveys appropriate to mid/large cities and tourist/coastal or high-growth suburbs
• Analyze compression across police, fire, paramedic, and general schedules
• Recommend classification structures, grade assignments, and implementation phases
• Prepare council/management presentations and proposal technical content for AlphaGov
• Coordinate with specialist SMEs (utility, K-12, benefits) when scopes expand

Requirements

• Required: 7+ years public-sector compensation/classification consulting (or equivalent municipal HR compensation leadership)
• Direct experience completing at least one multi-structure study that included sworn police and/or fire pay plans
• Experience with organizations of roughly 500+ FT employees or 200+ distinct titles
• Strong analytical, writing, and stakeholder presentation skills
• Ability to cite concrete past government projects (agency, role, year)
• Nice to have: CCP/WorldatWork
• SC/NC/Southeast municipal studies
