The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing complex capital construction projects across McKesson's industrial portfolio. This role serves as the primary project lead from project initiation through occupancy and closeout, overseeing planning, due diligence, budgeting, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities.

The position partners closely with internal business stakeholders, Real Estate, Facilities, Operations, Security, IT, EHS, Finance, Procurement, and external consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to deliver projects that support business growth, operational efficiency, and workplace objectives.

The role is expected to serve as a clear point of coordination for impacted business leaders and cross-functional partners, ensuring stakeholder needs are understood, expectations are managed, risks are communicated early, and decisions are documented and escalated appropriately. The successful candidate will possess strong construction project management experience, financial acumen, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.

Success in this role requires proactive, audience-appropriate communication, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to translate complex project information into concise updates for business partners and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead capital construction projects from concept through completion, including industrial distribution centers, warehouse expansions, office renovations, and infrastructure improvements.
• Evaluate greenfield sites for future development including constructability, site development costs, existing infrastructure and entitlements.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and execution strategies aligned with business requirements.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, furniture providers, and specialty vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage all aspects of project execution, including design reviews, permitting, procurement, bidding, construction, commissioning, occupancy, and closeout.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, contingencies, and change orders to ensure effective financial stewardship.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support schedule, budget, quality, and operational objectives.
• Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership, including concise executive summaries that clearly communicate scope, schedule, budget, risks, decisions needed, and next steps.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder communication plans that define meeting cadence, reporting expectations, escalation paths, decision owners, and communication needs for business leaders, operational partners, and project teams.
• Serve as the day-to-day communication lead for assigned projects, ensuring business partners and impacted stakeholders remain informed, consulted, and aligned throughout planning, execution, occupancy, and closeout.
• Partner with Operations, Facilities, Safety, Security, and business leaders to minimize disruption and ensure project goals are achieved, while proactively identifying adoption, change-management, and communication needs that could impact operational readiness.
• Review contractor and consultant performance, track deliverables, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company standards.
• Build trusted relationships with business unit leaders, site leadership, functional partners, and external providers by listening to business needs, managing expectations, and resolving concerns in a timely and transparent manner.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, safety requirements, regulatory requirements, and McKesson policies.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management processes, project controls, and supplier performance.
• Minimum requirements: 7+ years of experience managing commercial, industrial, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, healthcare, or large-scale corporate facility projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Real Estate, Facilities Management, or a related field.  MBA is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated experience leading construction projects from planning and design through occupancy and closeout.
• Experience managing capital budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and change management processes.
• Strong understanding of construction delivery methods, contracting strategies, building systems, permitting, and project controls.
• Experience managing external project management firms, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
• Proficiency with project management and construction management systems such as Procore, ACC, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
• Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to prepare clear written updates, facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, and present project risks, tradeoffs, decisions, and recommendations to senior leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, manage competing stakeholder priorities, and maintain transparent communication during high-pressure or time-sensitive project conditions.
• PMP, CCM, LEED, PE, or equivalent professional credentials preferred but not required.
• This position is remote with travel to distribution centers and job sites as needed, on average twice a month.
• Compensation will vary by geographic location. Target compensation is mid-point of respective range.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

$112,700 - $187,800
