Amazon is looking for an Indirect Tax Senior Manager to lead indirect tax support for our digital and devices businesses, including Alexa, Twitch, Amazon Music and Amazon Leo. You will be the tax partner these businesses rely on as they launch new products, enter new countries and build new commercial models, working directly with Product, Engineering, Finance and Legal so that tax is right at launch.
The role covers connected devices, digital services and streaming and gaming, and satellite internet connectivity. The technical work is varied covering digital services and subscriptions, hardware bundles with content or services, marketplace and platform models, billing system design, and the interaction with direct tax, transfer pricing and accounting. You will build strong relationships with the businesses you support, understanding their product roadmaps, commercial models, systems and decision-makers.
Key job responsibilities
Owning the indirect tax position for the businesses you support, covering new product launches, country expansions and changes to commercial models, from initial design through to launch and ongoing operation
Handling engagement with tax authorities, including audits and enquiries.
Providing technical direction to and developing more junior colleagues
Whilst this role is advisory, you will work closely with compliance colleagues on registrations, returns, audits and process improvements.
The role typically involves moving between three types of work. Advisory work with business and tech teams on new features, product launches and country expansions, ensuring that tax treatment is understood, agreed and implemented before launch. Ongoing support for the live business, including advisor queries, positions to be documented, and questions raised by Finance or Legal.
Ad-hoc work, including engagement with tax authorities, working with tax policy to review legislative changes, and support for wider planning work across the digital services and consumer devices portfolio where relevant.
The Digital and Devices Tax team supports Amazon's digital services, consumer devices and satellite broadband businesses globally, with colleagues in the US, London and Luxembourg. The team covers streaming and audio (Prime Video, Amazon Music, Audible, Twitch), gaming, digital content (Kindle), connected devices (Alexa, Ring, Fire TV) and satellite broadband (Amazon Leo). We work directly with business teams and with Accounting, Legal, Finance and the wider Tax organisation.
We provide clear, commercial and robust tax positions that let the business move forward with confidence, and engage early in the product development cycle so that tax outcomes are delivered at launch.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
Experience advisory experience in a large accounting/consultancy practice, law firm, tax authority or business in-house.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
