Senior Mission Operations Engineer, Strategic Defense

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Strategic Defense business line builds and deploys integrated hardware-software systems that protect the homeland and support global command and control missions. Our programs deliver Anduril’s Lattice-powered capabilities to the nation’s most critical missile defense and battle management architectures, connecting sensors, effectors, and decision-makers across every domain.

The Mission Operations (MOps) team is responsible for managing the execution, delivery, growth, and success of our customer accounts. Working across product, engineering, business development, and logistics teams, our Mission Operations Engineers own and shape customer relationships by embedding themselves within government programs to develop, plan, and deploy Anduril products in support of their missions.

They work side-by-side with customers to understand specific problem sets and then shape Anduril’s offerings alongside engineering teams to fit the mission need.

ABOUT THE JOB

Own the deployment lifecycle for Anduril compute infrastructure.

You will lead the planning, deployment, and sustainment of Anduril hardware nodes—including Menace-T, Menace-I, Voyager compute devices, and 3P server configurations—at government sites nationwide. This includes coordinating site surveys, managing installation activities, conducting acceptance testing, and ensuring each deployment meets mission requirements. You will develop and maintain the processes that turn a one-time installation into a repeatable, scalable deployment capability.

Serve as the technical bridge between government customers and Anduril engineering.

You are the primary liaison for our government stakeholders, translating their operational needs into actionable engineering requirements and keeping them informed on delivery timelines, integration status, and system performance. You will represent the customer perspective in internal planning sessions and ensure Anduril’s engineering teams have the context they need to build the right solutions.

Drive third-party system integration.

Work with partner organizations to integrate sensors, effectors, and other third-party systems into Anduril hardware form factors. You will assess power, cooling, weight, and rack-space requirements; coordinate integration testing; and ensure deployed configurations meet both Anduril and government specifications.

Build and formalize fleet management.

Stand up and own a fleet management capability for deployed Anduril nodes. This includes tracking hardware assets from procurement through deployment, maintaining configuration records, monitoring system health in coordination with SRE teams, and building the reporting and dashboards that give program leadership visibility into the state of the fleet.

Partner with Software Engineering and SRE teams.

Collaborate closely with software engineers and site reliability engineers to ensure deployed hardware is running the correct software baselines, that updates are applied efficiently, and that operational issues are triaged and resolved quickly. You will participate in incident response and help shape the processes that keep our systems healthy at scale.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Plan and execute site deployments of Anduril compute nodes (Menace-T, Menace-I, Voyager, etc.), coordinating across logistics, engineering, and government site teams
• Serve as the day-to-day technical point of contact for government customers, managing expectations, communicating status, and escalating issues
• Assess and coordinate the physical integration of third-party sensors and effectors into Anduril hardware form factors, including power, cooling, network, and rack-space requirements
• Develop and maintain a fleet management system to track deployed assets, configurations, software baselines, and system health across all program sites
• Partner with SRE teams to monitor deployed node health, coordinate software updates, and support incident response
• Create and deliver technical reports, deployment readiness reviews, and status briefings for government and internal leadership
• Drive continuous improvement of deployment processes, documentation, and playbooks to enable repeatable, scalable site activations
• Support program management activities including schedule tracking, risk identification, and deliverable management
• Contribute to the development of training materials and conduct end-user training at deployed sites
• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of experience in site operations, field engineering, systems deployment, or technical program management in defense or national security environments
• Hands-on experience deploying and sustaining compute hardware in operational or lab environments (servers, ruggedized computing platforms, or similar)
• Technical familiarity with hardware form factors used in defense deployments, including rack-mount servers, ruggedized edge compute devices, and mobile computing platforms
• Understanding of how third-party systems (sensors, effectors, C2 systems) integrate into compute hardware, including power, cooling, and networking requirements
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a liaison between technical engineering teams and government customers, with strong stakeholder management skills
• Experience working alongside software engineers and/or SRE teams on deployment, integration, or operational readiness activities
• Strong organizational skills with experience tracking assets, configurations, or fleet-level data across distributed sites
• Ability to travel 25–50% to government sites for deployments, site surveys, and customer engagements
• Must possess and maintain an active U.S. TS/SCI security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with Anduril hardware platforms (Menace, Voyager) or similar ruggedized/tactical compute systems
• Background in missile defense, integrated air and missile defense (IAMD), or space defense programs
• Familiarity with Lattice OS or similar distributed C2 operating systems
• Experience standing up fleet management, asset tracking, or configuration management systems from scratch
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP networking, mesh networking, DDIL environments)
• Experience with government acquisition processes, contract deliverables, and program reporting
• Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices including CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management
• Prior military service or direct operational experience with DoD command and control systems

US Salary Range

$166,000 — $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
