Neurotechnology Research Specialist

Nia Therapeutics is developing brain stimulation devices to restore memory function after brain injury and degenerative disease. Our team includes leaders in the fields of engineering, neuroscience, and neurosurgery, and our technology has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of patients with memory loss. In March 2026 our Smart Neurostimulation System (SNS), a wireless, 60-channel, AI-enabled neurostimulation platform, received FDA Breakthrough Device designation, and we are preparing for our first in-human studies.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist to join our growing engineering team in Allston, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, supporting engineering work, device testing, pre-clinical testing, and planning our first-in-human studies using the SNS. You will report to the CEO and to other members of the leadership team when assigned to specific projects.

This in-person position is based at our offices in Allston, MA and requires periodic travel to our Philadelphia office and to our contract manufacturer sites. Must be eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Build device prototypes at the bench
• Assist with bench testing, pre-clinical testing, and quality engineering
• Assist with planning and executing our upcoming first-in-human studies
• Conduct patient testing and interviews, and engage with patient advocacy groups

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, neuroscience, or cognitive science
• Research experience working with humans or animals in studies that measure and analyze behavioral data
• Clear mission alignment with a team working to develop therapies to treat memory loss
• Quantitative coursework in mathematics and statistics beyond the calculus level
• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities
