California State University, Long Beach is renovating and expanding its University Student Union, a $235 million project delivered through collaborative design-build, where one team designs and builds the project and works through the design with the University. The project runs from July 2024 to June 2028. It renovates 180,000 gross square feet of the existing building, including 160,000 square feet of indoor space and 20,000 square feet of covered outdoor walkways and seating, and adds 50,000 gross square feet of new space.
The building will hold food service, a wellness center, cultural resource centers, a career center, offices, lounges, recreation and entertainment space, and event and meeting rooms, along with accessibility upgrades and site work.
