The Work
A community college district is rebuilding its campuses with bond funding. As Construction Project Manager, you manage several campus construction projects at once, each valued between $5 million and $100 million, and you are the owner's representative in the field on each one.
You confirm that construction matches the drawings and meets the requirements of DSA, the Division of the State Architect, the state office that approves public school and college construction. You report to the College Project Director and the program office on status, schedule, cost, budget, staffing, delays, disputes, changes, and compliance with the District's written procedures, and you keep the project risk register and its mitigation plans current.
You work with the college and the design team on construction phasing and swing space plans, meaning where students and staff relocate while their building is under construction, and you track the work against those plans. You resolve complex construction issues with the design team, contractors, inspectors, and DSA within the approved budget, and you lead closeout through sign-off by DSA, the District, and the program office, coordinating furniture, equipment, surplus, and the move with the college's relocation project manager.
