Join us as an Anti-Financial Crime Working Student or Intern to improve the operational processes behind Qonto’s German branch. You’ll join our Central Europe AFC team and begin with a high-impact challenge: making sure sensitive physical correspondence—including court documents, legal notices, seizures, and law-enforcement requests—is received, routed, tracked, and handled on time.
As you gain autonomy, you’ll connect teams across AFC, Banking Operations, Legal, and Product while helping us build clearer and more reliable ways of working.
➡️ As an Anti-Financial Crime Working Student or Intern at Qonto, you will:
Improve a critical operational process:
Map our current physical-mail workflow, understand how documents move from our external provider to internal teams, and identify unclear ownership, bottlenecks, and missed handoffs.
Build a reliable coordination system:
Help design and maintain clear routing rules, trackers, ownership models, escalation paths, and follow-up routines so sensitive requests reach the right people on time.
Connect teams across Qonto:
Coordinate with AFC, AML, Fraud, Banking Operations, Legal, and other stakeholders to gather information, clarify responsibilities, and maintain visibility on open actions.
Support AFC and Product projects:
Once the core workflow is stable, help organize our Product × AFC feature-approval process, including coordinating input from multiple MLROs across Europe.
Improve how we work with AI:
Experiment with AI to structure information, document workflows, prepare updates, and reduce repetitive coordination work—while checking outputs carefully and protecting sensitive information.

Your first mission addresses an important operational risk for Qonto’s German branch. Your work will contribute directly to the timely handling of sensitive banking and legal procedures.
Broad exposure across Qonto:
You’ll work beyond a single team and gain insight into AFC, operations, legal, product, growth, and marketing within Germany—Qonto’s second-largest branch.
Real ownership:
This is project-based work rather than a list of repetitive daily tasks. You’ll be expected to investigate problems, propose practical solutions, and turn them into sustainable processes.
Progressive scope:
You’ll begin with the physical-mail workflow. As you establish a reliable process, you’ll take on additional coordination projects across AFC and Product.
Hybrid work in Berlin:
Approximately 3 days per week in the office to support learning and collaboration.

You are an enrolled student:
You may be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Marketing, or another relevant field. We are open to different academic backgrounds and do not require a specific specialization.
You are autonomous and accountable:
You can take a loosely defined problem, ask the right questions, structure your approach, and make concrete progress without waiting for step-by-step instructions.
You are organized and rigorous:
You can track several stakeholders, owners, deadlines, and dependencies while understanding why small gaps matter when legal or regulatory requests are involved.
You learn quickly:
Previous AFC or banking experience is not required, but you are curious about financial crime, banking operations, legal processes, and how a fintech works.
You are comfortable with digital tools:
You can work confidently with Google Workspace. Familiarity with Notion is particularly useful.
You have professional English:
English is the team’s working language. German is a plus, but it is not mandatory; Dutch is an additional bonus.
You are curious about AI: You are willing to experiment with AI to organize information and improve processes while maintaining accuracy, judgment, and confidentiality.
About your future Manager:
You manager will be

, Anti-Financial Crime Director for Central Europe and Oversight and Deputy Managing Director for Germany
. He’ll give you the context and support needed to understand sensitive AFC and banking processes while trusting you to investigate problems, propose solutions, and progressively take ownership.
His background?
Stefano joined Qonto in 2025 after nearly a decade in AML and compliance roles across banking and crypto, including Senior Manager for Risk & Compliance at PwC, AML and Compliance Officer at Coinbase Germany and Upvest, and earlier compliance positions at Intesa Sanpaolo and Deutsche Bank. At Qonto, he oversees Anti-Financial Crime topics across Central Europe and contributes to the governance of the German branch.

A combination of regulatory perspective, cross-market experience, and an autonomous management style. Stefano does not micromanage: he creates space to test ideas and solve problems independently while remaining available for daily guidance, brainstorming, and regular project checkpoints.
