Affiliate Athletic Trainer

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Boston Red Sox Medical team is dedicated to providing our players with the highest level of sports medicine care in professional baseball, maximizing short- and long-term health and performance within the organization’s philosophies and processes. We integrate every area of the medical team with adjacent performance departments to reduce injury and illness rates, deliver precise and timely evaluation and treatment, and build long-term strategies that educate players and staff on health and performance best practices.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Boston Red Sox are seeking two Minor League Athletic Trainers to join our Athletic Training staff. Successful candidates will be placed at one of our minor league affiliates based on experience and organizational needs and will work under the direct supervision of the Minor League Athletic Training Coordinator and Head Minor League Team Physician.

This is a year-round salaried position, with responsibilities included but not limited to spring training, the affiliated championship season, off-season player check-ins, and fall performance programs. Selected candidates will have access to the Boston Red Sox’s internal orthopedic and manual therapy education platform. They will also gain hands-on experience as part of a professional sports medicine team, with opportunities to work alongside the Major League staff during Spring Training.

• RESPONSIBILITIES:: Provide comprehensive care for injuries and illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation
• Collaborate with coaches and cross-functional departments to deliver high-quality, coordinated sports medicine care
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the MLB EMR system
• Complete administrative duties and reporting procedures as assigned
• Coordinate and administer infection control protocols
• Schedule and execute athlete monitoring assessments and data collection for Strength and Conditioning, Health & Performance, Sports Science, and other baseball initiatives
• COMPETENCIES:: Able to establish trust and build rapport with players and staff from a diverse set of cultures and backgrounds
• Skilled in treating regional and sport-specific impairments, backed by in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology
• Able to design and prescribe appropriate exercise programs for injury prevention, motor control, conditioning, and therapeutic purposes
• ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:: Interested applicants should be a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
• Eligible for state athletic training licensure in affiliated state
• Applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of the position
• Prior professional or collegiate baseball experience and/or additional certifications preferred
• Bilingual Preferred – Spanish highly recommended
• Relocation to Fort Myers, FL
