Sr. Database Administrator

The Database Administrator designs, manages and maintains our primary MySQL database with millions of records and continuously monitors performance and capacity. Our software engineers collaborate with our Database Administrator on design patterns for new data and best practices for database interactions. Our Chief Architect and manager of our Research and Data team will directly manage this teammate; however, work will largely be self-directed in collaboration with company goals.

What You'll Do

• Monitor production performance and capacity, and give the team clear recommendations before small issues become outages.
• Work with engineers on slow queries and production problems, and help them understand the fix so the same problem doesn't come back.
• Create and maintain database documentation, including diagrams, design standards, and best practices.
• Use AWS tooling to manage backups, security, compliance, and disaster recovery.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

• Four to six years of experience as a MySQL DBA, including hands-on support of production systems.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage your own priorities and meet deadlines with little oversight.
• Nice to have
• Experience with Rivery, Snowflake, or other BI tools
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Compensation: $105,000 - $149,500
