As a Software Engineer III
, you will build and enhance scalable backend services that power critical pharmacy platforms and customer experiences. You will develop APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features, and help ensure system reliability, performance, and security. You will participate in design discussions, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and production support while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. We are a high-impact engineering team within Walmart Pharmacy focused on developing the Pharmacy Compliance and Recommendation Platform. What you'll do:
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems that power Walmart Pharmacy platforms.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
Contribute to CI/CD automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence initiatives.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, and other coding assistants to accelerate feature development, automate repetitive tasks, generate tests, and improve code quality.
Proficiency in applying AI-powered workflows for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.
What you'll bring:
Experience developing scalable backend applications using Java, object-oriented programming, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with experience troubleshooting production issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and software quality best practices.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while collaborating effectively with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor etc. to accelerate development, improve code quality, automate testing, and enhance engineering productivity.
Proficiency in applying AI-powered workflows for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting while maintaining high standards for security, reliability, and maintainability.
