Role summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. This role requires expertise in software development lifecycle, including coding, debugging, and continuous integration, while integrating AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities. You will contribute to solution design, technical leadership, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure alignment with business objectives.

About the team:
The Transportation team develops advanced products and technologies that support Walmart’s Supply Chain by enabling efficient delivery to warehouses, stores, and customers. The team builds and maintains high-performance, highly available applications and systems that generate shipping labels and manifests, facilitating goods movement via third-party carriers. This supports Walmart Marketplace sellers, Walmart Fulfillment Services, and warehouses in shipping millions of products daily.
The technology stack includes React, Java microservices with Spring Boot, Azure SQL, Kafka, Cosmos, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring robust and scalable solutions for critical logistics operations.
What you'll do:
Own delivery of scoped features and components through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and business objectives.
Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, efficient code using multiple programming languages and best practices.
Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply sound technical judgment to build scalable, secure systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical solutions and define success metrics.
Monitor application performance, support CI/CD pipelines, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor peers and contribute to knowledge sharing and engineering excellence across teams.
What you'll bring:
Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
Strong technical acumen with experience in code review, debugging, and continuous development.
Demonstrated ability to deliver scoped features or models through collaborative engineering teams.
Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
Proficiency in managing full software development lifecycle including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform and business objectives.
