Position Summary...
What you'll do...
The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of a high-volume grocery distribution center, ensuring operational excellence in safety, quality, service, productivity, talent development, and financial performance. This role drives strategic initiatives, fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensures the facility consistently delivers outstanding results for customers, associates, and the business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
Develop, execute, and oversee the facility’s business plan to achieve operational goals related to safety, quality, service, productivity, and financial performance.
Identify and implement strategic improvements that enhance efficiency, optimize resources, and support long-term growth.
Lead complex distribution operations while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities and customer expectations.
Monitor performance metrics and operational trends to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial & Resource Management
Direct the financial performance of the distribution center by managing budgets, controlling expenses, and maximizing asset utilization.
Review, analyze, and communicate business performance reports to identify opportunities and risks.
Ensure effective allocation of labor, equipment, and operational resources to meet business demands and service level expectations.
Workforce Planning & Talent Leadership
Approve and oversee workforce planning strategies to ensure staffing levels support current and future operational requirements.
Build and develop high-performing leadership teams through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.
Lead hiring, promotion, development, and talent retention efforts to strengthen organizational capability.
Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, recognition, and growth.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Champion a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to company, regulatory, and logistics standards.
Maintain facility-wide compliance with quality, food safety, operational, and environmental requirements.
Develop, implement, and sustain policies, procedures, training programs, and supporting documentation to drive consistent execution.
Conduct regular reviews of operational processes to mitigate risk and ensure continuous compliance.
Customer, Supplier & Stakeholder Relations
Build strong partnerships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support operational success.
Resolve complex associate, customer, and supplier concerns by conducting thorough investigations and making sound, fact-based decisions.
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to align priorities and drive results.
Community Engagement
Serve as an ambassador for the company within the local community by participating in civic organizations, charitable initiatives, and company-sponsored programs.
