UNIT AIDE ENDO - 48/52 WEEKENDER

Overview

The Surgical Services Aide will maintain a positive physical appearance of the unit by carrying out a variety of supportive tasks. He/She provides assistance with patients and visitors under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Unit Aide demonstrates excellent customer service. He/She upholds the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant, and commits to Keeping our Promise of Caring.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin. Models Covenants Mission, Vision and Values of keeping our Promise of Caring and Commitment to Service. Has social contact with patients, and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare. 4. Demonstrates excellent customer service. A. Maintains safe, clean work areas in storage rooms, OR rooms and work area. B. Assesses malfunctioning beds, stretchers and lights and initiates repair order to Engineering when unable to correct the problem. C. Empties soiled linen bags. D. Removes linens from stretchers/beds. E. Acts as back-up secretary, answers telephones, covers lunch and breaks for HUC. F. Performs in-unit and unit-to-unit transfers to appropriate patients. G. Other duties as assigned. H. Daily and weekly terminal cleaning of unit. I. Room turnover. J. Transports medications, equipment, blood, specimens and patients. K. Cleans and processes scopes and eye instruments L. Assists OR staff by holding patients using sterile technique.
