Emergency Department Tech

Summary

The ED Tech functions primarily in direct patient care, and demonstrates competent clinical practice with a variety of patients. The tech in the ED works as part of a team with a common goal of offering patient centered, timely care, in a safe and friendly environment. The tech in this position offers individualized compassionate care to emergency department patients, observation patients, and outpatients based on the direction of the physician and RN.

The tech pleasantly provides nonjudgmental care for the acutely ill, as well as the non-acute patient. This position requires the ability to perform multiple ancillary roles including, but not limited to, performing duties and procedures within the scope of their practice as assigned, specimen collection, vital signs, EKGs, stocking of supplies, cleaning, and transportation of patients, clerical responsibilities, lab collection, respiratory treatments, and other duties as assigned.

This position requires assisting the nurse, physician, and other members of the team to provide relationship based patient centered care. The tech in this role works with multiple types of sophisticated equipment and handles various types of patients in a friendly and frequently stressful environment.
