Overview

The Inpatient Clinical Coding Apprentice is an entry level coding position aimed at introducing an individuals to the inpatient coding experience. Incumbents are expected to learn coding rules, guidelines, classification systems and other relevant skills required to successfully code inpatient medical records. Responsibilities include learning and coding simple inpatient cases, learning and entering facility and professional charges for patient's admitted to facilities by way of the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities
- Growth and Development - Coding apprentices are expected to progress through learning different types of OP Coding within the first year. It is expected that will be able to navigate the medical record, understanding the different types of documentation needed for the service lines, and is able to code OP cases within the first few months, and move on to be fully proficient a complex service line by the end of their first year. The pace will be progressive.
