About Us
GOAL has responded to the world's major humanitarian crises since its founding in 1977, working with vulnerable communities in 14 countries across the globe with a dedicated team of personnel. While GOAL continues to be an agile first responder to humanitarian crises, it is also committed to working with vulnerable communities to help them survive crises and support them on the road to recovery.
GOAL has been working in Sierra Leone since 1999. GOAL Sierra Leone works in health, focusing on health system strengthening and adolescent sexual and reproductive health, WASH, blue economy, food security and livelihoods, emergency preparedness and response, climate change, and system strengthening. GOAL directly implements programmes and works in partnership with national society organisations, local government, the private sector, and communities.
GOAL Sierra Leone's Country Programme
GOAL Sierra Leone has a team of approximately 130 personnel and manages an overall budget of approximately €5.2m. The head office is based in Freetown, with field offices in Kenema, Kambia, Makeni, and Moyamba Districts. GOAL Sierra Leone's country programme is funded by Irish Aid, Charity: Water, the City of Zurich (UN-Habitat), the Sunflower Foundation (Community Foundation Ireland), Jersey Overseas Aid, and several smaller donors.
