People Operations Specialist

Second Front Systems is looking for a detail-oriented, methodical, mission-driven People Operations Specialist to strengthen our quality assurance operations.

Operating at the intersection of software validation and defense accreditation requirements, you will be responsible for designing and executing test plans that verify system performance against specifications.

You will build test cases, execute test suites, and document results in our tracking systems, ensuring that defects are identified before deployment and accreditation criteria are met.

We need someone capable of interpreting technical requirements and translating them into measurable test scenarios; managing test data, environments, and automation tools across multiple concurrent builds; and communicating test status and blockers clearly to development and program leadership.

As a key partner to our engineering and compliance teams, you will accelerate our ability to deliver secure, validated software to warfighters, serving as the bridge between code and operational readiness.

This is a full-time position.

What You'll Do

• Manage onboarding, offboarding, and employment status changes with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS platforms (Justworks, Lattice, Ashby) and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment law.
• Orchestrate benefits enrollments, terminations, open enrollment, and leave of absence tracking (FMLA, ADA, parental leave).
• Serve as primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, policies, and employment verifications.
• Partner with IT and Security teams to coordinate access provisioning and deprovisioning, ensuring compliance alignment.
• Contribute to HR process documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Bring

• 3–5 years of experience in People Operations, HR Specialist, or similar HR support role.
• Demonstrated proficiency in HRIS or PEO platforms (Justworks, Lattice, Ashby, Rippling) and comfort working with data.
• Hands-on experience managing onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, and leave of absence workflows.
• Knowledge of employment law, multi-state compliance, and leave administration (FMLA, ADA).
• Experience supporting a remote or hybrid workforce in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
• U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements; residency in approved hiring hub (DC/Maryland/Virginia, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill NC, Denver/Colorado Springs CO, or Dallas/Fort Worth TX).

• The base salary for this position will fall between $95,000 and $105,000. Your ultimate compensation will be determined by professional background, technical proficiency, seniority, and regional cost factors. Furthermore, this opportunity includes potential eligibility for equity awards and discretionary bonuses, rounding out a comprehensive total rewards offering.
