Job Introduction:
Provides legal counsel on privacy, product development, and regulatory compliance, enabling Tekion to deliver innovative solutions while maintaining trust and meeting global legal obligations. Acts as a strategic partner to product, engineering, and business teams in building privacy-forward, legally compliant products and services.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Advises on product design and implementation to ensure compliance with global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging regulations.
Partners with Product and Engineering teams to embed privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default into product development lifecycles.
Reviews and negotiates privacy-related provisions in commercial agreements, including data processing and cross-border transfer clauses.
Conducts privacy impact assessments (PIAs), data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and risk analyses for new features and initiatives.
Monitors and interprets changes in privacy, AI, and digital regulation to ensure proactive compliance.
Develops and maintains internal policies, guidance documents, and playbooks related to privacy and product compliance.
Collaborates with Security, Compliance, and IT teams on incident response, data governance, and user rights management.
Provides privacy and product counseling across business units, including on marketing, analytics, cookies, and mobile technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
- 6–9 years of legal experience, with a focus on product counseling and privacy law
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution; active bar membership in good standing
- Strong knowledge of global data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks
- Experience advising product and engineering teams within a technology company
- CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPT, or similar certifications preferred
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
