About Total Life
Total Life is a telehealth company dedicated to the health of older adults. Over five years we have delivered care to more than 10,000 patients, and we are now expanding into lifestyle and longevity medicine: preventative, whole-person care for adults 65 and over, focused on sleep, nutrition, movement, mental health and social connection. We complement patients' primary care rather than replace it, and we partner with senior living communities to bring care to residents.
The role
We are looking for a Texas-licensed physician to serve as delegating physician for our Texas nurse practitioners under Prescriptive Authority Agreements. This is a remote, part-time contract role requiring a few hours per month for each NP. No travel or on-site presence is required.
Responsibilities
- Enter into Prescriptive Authority Agreements with Total Life nurse practitioners and register them with the Texas Medical Board
- Hold a documented quality assurance meeting with each NP at least monthly, by video or phone
- Review an agreed sample of each NP's charts
- Be available by phone or video for clinical consultation during NP practice hours, and arrange alternate physician coverage when unavailable
- Agree the practice plan with each NP, including consultation, referral and emergency protocols
- Support NPs caring for patients via telehealth and at partner senior living communities
Requirements
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical licence
- Board certified in internal medicine, family medicine or geriatrics
- No history of disciplinary action
- Capacity to delegate to additional NPs within Texas limits
- Comfortable supporting telehealth practice with an older adult population
- Current malpractice coverage that includes delegation or supervision
- Nice to have
- Experience delegating to NPs in a telehealth setting
- Experience in geriatrics, senior living or long-term care
