Respiratory Clinic Liaison (COPD Educator) - Mercy South

Coordinates and/or provides respiratory-related education to patients and clinic coworkers. Collaborates as a member of a Hospital- and Clinic-based team with Physicians, Quality, Care Management & Clinic leaders to evaluate and plan for the educational needs of the patient. Ability to effectively communicate with providers and co-workers to promote health behaviors identified for optimal disease management with patients and families. Serves as a clinical resource or consultant in respiratory related conditions.

A COPD Educator (RT with COPD expertise) would:

• Provide structured inpatient education
• Reinforce inhaler and oxygen use
• Identify high risk patients prior to discharge
• Coordinate care with quality & case management and outpatient providers

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education:

Graduate from an Accredited Respiratory Care program.

Licensure:

Must have a current license in the state of practice.

Experience:

Position requires at least 3 years experience.

Certification/Registration:

Registered as a therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Pulmonary Disease Educator Certificate or willing to obtain.

Other Skills and Knowledge:

Must be current in BLS. Strong communication skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
