Senior Benefit Consultant

Under minimal supervision, serves as a senior subject matter expert responsible for the strategic design, analysis, implementation, communication, and ongoing administration of Mercy's health and welfare programs. Leads complex benefit initiatives, vendor management activities, compliance reviews, financial analyses, and organizational projects that support Mercy's mission and strategic objectives.

Partners closely with the Director of Benefits, HR leaders, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and external vendors to evaluate program effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop recommendations that enhance the caregiver experience while balancing organizational cost and compliance requirements.

Provides project leadership, consultation, and mentoring to Benefits Consultants and Benefits Analysts while serving as a key resource for complex benefit-related issues, regulatory changes, and strategic initiatives.

Position Details:

**This position is primarily remote but candidates must live in the Metropolitan St. Louis area and be able to come onsite a few times a month.**

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field required.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration, benefits consulting, or total rewards.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated expertise in health and welfare benefit plan design, administration, and compliance.
• Experience leading complex projects, vendor implementations, and organizational initiatives.
• Advanced analytical skills with experience evaluating benefit utilization, claims, and financial data.
• Experience working with Workday and large-scale HRIS platforms.
• Professional certifications such as CEBS, CBP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
• Proven ability to develop executive-level recommendations and influence strategic decision-making.
