This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a fast-paced and dynamic field. Allison Transmission is seeking an eMobility Product Engineer to join its fast-paced, dynamic eMobility group. In this role, you will apply your engineering expertise cross-functionally to develop the industry's most reliable hybrid and electric powertrain systems. This opportunity directly supports legacy H40/50, eGen Flex, and eGen Power product initiatives.

Additionally, you will serve as the primary product engineering liaison for the manufacturing plant, providing immediate technical support to troubleshoot and resolve emerging product-related production issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical hardware design in support of current and new product development.
Work cross-functionally with departments to improve existing products and develop new technologies.
Perform engineering calculations as required for the specific component or sub-assembly using hand calculations, spreadsheet tools, FEA, or other available analysis tools.
Design new parts in CAD and review FEA results; make design judgments including stress housings, shafts, bearings, machining components, etc.
Work cross-functionally to root cause emerging product related issues.
Develop a solid understanding of the manufacturing aspects of design and provide manufacturing support.
Design mechanical components and sub-systems incorporating appropriate GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Work with suppliers, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality Engineers to support cost reductions, sourcing, and design changes.
Support product development builds and prototype programs.
Establish or modify validation plans for components or subassemblies, including defining performance requirements, acceptance criteria, and testing conditions; review data and provide final interpretation of test reports.
Serve as the primary product engineering contact for the manufacturing facility, providing rapid response troubleshooting to resolve emerging product issues and maintain production continuity.
Communicate technical issues, risks, and proposed solutions to management and cross-functional teams.
Key Performance Measures: Technical recommendations are supported by sound engineering work and judgment.
Deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
Designs comply with applicable engineering standards.
Component drawings appropriately capture required specifications and comply with current standards and practices.
Issues and proposed solutions are communicated clearly and effectively to management and organizational leadership.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of product design and development experience in automotive or heavy-duty transmissions, axles, driveline or powertrain components.
Experience: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Knowledge of mechanical systems including, but not limited to, gears, bearings, castings, differentials, cooling, lubrication, and sealing systems.
Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Proficiency in coding, including but not limited to MATLAB.
Strong understanding of DFMEA and APQP methodologies.
Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints.
Strong knowledge of product validation and reliability.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
